Cross Stepping
Cross stepping lets you move your stance without breaking trim — essential for nose riding and resetting position.
Setup
- Find trim first; board gliding with minimal corrections
- Knees soft, core engaged, eyes level
- Hands relaxed for balance; avoid windmilling
Steps
- Front foot crosses over the back foot toward the stringer
- Back foot follows to reestablish shoulder-width stance
- Repeat in small increments toward the nose or back toward the tail
Controls
- Micro weight shifts to maintain speed and rail
- Use slight torso rotation to stay over the stringer
- Pause between steps to confirm stability
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast — step only when trim feels locked in.
